Education is a systematic, planned attempt to bring about appropriate development and changes in a child by way of inculcating approved behaviour patterns like thirst for knowledge, acquirement of multifaceted skills and values. Only by providing appropriate, all-encompassing education that will lead to the development of the all-round personality of a child equipped to face the challenges of life in all his future endeavours, we will be able to raise ideal future and proud citizens South Africa and the world. Each child has his own individuality and his special skills and talents a good educational system helps a child to nurture his talents and overcome his shortcomings.
The School is nothing but his/her second home as each child spends a major part of his life in the School. It is essential, therefore, that in these years of moulding his/her character and personality, he/she should get our utmost attention and care. It is a duty of school to provide all those opportunities and facilities to students which help in their all-round development. Our approach, at Star was always child-centred, encouraging activity based learning, inculcating a scientific temper and a spirit of free enquiry. Teachers ignite curiosity and the desire to learn rather than routinely load children with academic burden; a methodology that turns learning into a combination of classroom study, research and scientific discovery. Whilst excellence is pursued, Star is nevertheless devoted to the notion that every child is as important as every other. We, at Star always encourage each child to develop in their special field of interest so as to best showcase their particular type of talent while focusing on the universal values such as Respect, Love, Faithfulness, Ubuntu.
We believe that the approach to motivating and getting the best out of the children is based on the positive reinforcement of good work and good behavior with a philosophy which centers on praise, encouragement, enthusiasm, fun and affection. Nevertheless, nothing worthwhile can be achieved without a sense of discipline and thus our students will be expected to conform to high disciplinary standards in the further steps of their lives.
On the heels of the graduation, it is easy to look back on a great year and remember all of the incredible things that our matric students have accomplished in the high school in 2013. The Class of 2013 made us all proud over the course of the year, from their university acceptances to their performances in NSC Examinations. They truly are one of a kind. I wish them all the best as they make their transition into the real world.
I must now take this opportunity to thank our teachers for the terrific job they have done in developing the meaningful learning activities and support that they have provided to allow the opportunities for our students to develop into the young adults that they are becoming. In addition, we have wonderful technical staffs that make sure our school runs smoothly from the start of the year to the very end. Finally, our secretarial staff’s contributions cannot be understated. They are the best at what they do and if it were not for them so much would not get done.
I would also like to thank the parents. Without your help and support our year would not have been as fruitful as it has been. Your role within our partnership makes Star an incredible place to learn, grow, and enhance the experiences that your children have on a regular basis.
