History of Star College Cape Town

In January 1999 as the first school of Horizon Educational Trust, Star College Cape Town started at 6 Newton Road, Athlone under the name of Star International High School.  Then Principal, Mr. Yasar Yesilyurt and two Deputies, Mr. Aydin Inal as well as Mr. Ilhami Demirtas were the founding members.  Starting with only 16 Grade 8 Boys (1999), Star continued to grow annually.  Star International Primary School started in the year 2000.

Star International Primary and High School relocated to our current location, 22 Elgin Road Sybrand Park, in 2006. In small classes, under the supervision of highly qualified educators, students have the opportunity to realize their potential.

In 2013 Horizon Educational Trust took the decision to have all HET schools in South Africa operate under the same brand “STAR COLLEGES”.

By 2015, Star College Cape Town had two campuses:

  • Star College Sybrand Park: Co-ed Pre-Primary School and Primary School as well as a Girls High School
  • Star College Bridgetown: Co-ed Primary School and Boys High School

With the guidance of staff, Star College added many successes to its portfolio.  This include very pleasing Matric results (100% pass and 100% bachelor degree) with many students entering universities, achievements in local, national and international competitions and Olympiads etc.

Many successors followed Mr. Ercan Ulgur, Mr Aydin Inal, Mr Ilhami Demirtas, Mr Ayhan Cetin, Mr Mahmut Ozer, Mr Okan Erdem, Erdal Ozkaya.

And currently Mr. U. Hulusi Patli at Bridgetown and Mr. Ahmet Kayya at Sybrand Park.
